All boats require maintenance to keep them “Shipshape” this could involve the most simple of things. In general most small boat owners find they are able to look after the basics of dinghy maintenance if they have the time, but for issues like osmosis, gel crack and GRP damage this can be a different ball game. If left unchecked these small amounts of damage can create even more. Bring the boat to us let us get it back to A1 condition. At our premises there is ample free parking and manoeuvring space. Or for a small charge we will collect and deliver.
Small Boat hull Damage
Damage occurs on boats for various reasons, from objects floating on or just below the waters surface to groundings either while launching or recovering or just sailing, boats being put onto or taken off badly fitting or maintained trolleys or trailers to bumping into other boats or hard objects. Most people are more than capable of doing the minor repairs that will need doing from time to time but, what happens when you don’t have time or the repair is too big. Here at Hop 2 Sailing we have the facilities and experienced staff to do a professional and cost effective repair that will stand the test of time. Whether your boat is roto-moulded like the Topper range, RS Tera, Feva etc, Laser Pico,Vago etc or GRP we can repair it. Insurance work undertaken for all insurance companies. There is ample manoeuvring and free parking space for you to bring your boat to us or for a small fee we will collect and deliver.
MOT
Have your boat serviced/overhauled for £120.00+VAT for the average 14-16 foot dinghy others prices on request, we give your boat a full inspection, polish the hull clean and lubricate all fixtures and fittings. We will prepare a list of any works that need doing or fittings that need replacing or updating and communicate that to you before taking any further action.
Sails
Sails need to be maintained in good working order and should be checked after every outing. Small nicks, tears or other damage should be attended to as soon as possible. We offer a service to get those repairs done. Just drop the sail in or give us a call and for a small fee we will collect and deliver.
Trailers
Trailers and trolleys are one of things that we all forget we put our boats onto and take them off these items for weeks, months and some times even years without giving them a thought. Bring them in for a service or overhaul before they let you down.
Spars/Rigging
All spars and rigging both running and standing should be inspected at regular intervals. If you don’t have the time we do. Rigging manufactured on site, lines from braid on braid through to Dyneema in stock. Splicing service offered. Most parts carried in stock.

Hull damage can occur in a variety of ways, from collision with unseen objects on or beneath the water, to grounding whilst launching or recovering, badly fitting or maintained trolleys and even boats coming together. At least once a year your hull should be given a thorough inspection checking for gel cracks, delamination of the fibreglass and bonding structure, getting defects repaired early will save you money in the long term. Our fully trained staff and excellent workshop facilities mean that your boat can be fixed quickly and cost effectively getting you back on the water sooner than you think. Insurance work undertaken for all insurance companies. Providing your boat is not a total write off, we at Hop 2 Sailing have all the neccessary skills to repair dinghies and small boats that will fit into our spacious workshop whether they are made from roto-moulded plastic i.e. Toppers, RS APB's, Laser Pico etc. or GRP.
Rigging
At least once every season the running rigging, standing rigging and spars should be carefully inspected looking for any signs of wear or damage. All the mast, boom and pole hardware should also be inspected for wear and functionality including blocks, cleats and fixings. Replacement items can be soursed from Hop 2 Sailing. Sails
Sails no matter what they are made of are very expensive. When they tear or rip and professional advice should be sought. Hop2sailing can call on skilled craftsmen who can repair these items before they become unusable. Inspect your sails on a regular basis and get any repairs done sooner rather than later. Drop them in to us or ask us to pick them up. Let us take the sress out of the situation.
Trailer Repair
Month after month, season after season boats are put onto tolleys and trolleys on to trailers. How often are they checked greased oiled and given a little bit of tender loving care. They will let you down! Probably where and when you don't want them to. Bring them in let us service them for you.
MOT
Let us with our experience overhaul/service your dinghy no matter what make or class. We will check your boat from stem to stern including fixtures and fittings wash, clean and lubricate all moving parts and polish the hull all that for £120.00+VAT. If there are items/areas that require attention or replacement we will contact you with the prices and await your go ahead before doing any extra work.
Boat Names
I'm sure that you have all named your boats but, have you given your boat a name? Stick on vinyl names that is. Didn't know where to get it done? Now you do. At Hop 2 Sailing we have just had a state of the art plotter installed that will cut any boat name you can think of in almost any font, script,colour or size.
We can even do banners for those special occasions. Change the look of your boat give it the a name. Prices available on request but, very cost effective.
